François Giannoccaro, director of the Institute for Major Risks (IRMA) explains that 4 out of 10 mayors in Isère do not sufficiently inform the population about industrial and natural risks.

While this Monday morning a security exercise was organized in Isère in the town of Pont-de-Claix, François Giannoccaro was the guest of our colleagues from Bleu. The director of the Institute for Major Risks (IRMA) explained that 4 out of 10 mayors in the department did not sufficiently inform the population regarding industrial and natural risks.

For several years, however, the law has required city councilors to inform residents through a municipal information document. “Imagine that in Isère there are still 42% of mayors who have not fulfilled their obligations” explains the director of IRMA to our colleagues. “This is a message that I send to mayors but also to residents. The 2026 municipal elections are approaching, now is the time to address this issue” he concludes.

This Monday morning the residents of Pont-de-Claix, a town south of , received an alert text message as part of the FR-alert system.
