“A terrible event that will never leave the family”

Iris-Mae Aubrey fell ill a few days ago. Picked up earlier than usual from her school in south Wales, she was then placed in the care of her grandmother until her parents, Ryan and Chelsea, returned.

The little girl vomited on her pajamas, so Ryan decided to give her a bath. With her husband gone, Chelsea made sure to turn off the tap when the water came up to her waist.

She then went back downstairs, leaving her daughter unattended for around 25 minutes, reports The Sun.

Iris-Mae Aubrey reportedly called her several times to let her know she was ready to get out of the bath. When Chelsea went back upstairs to check on her, she found her daughter unconscious in a bathtub filled to the brim. Despite the arrival of help, she unfortunately could not be saved.

It appears that the little girl managed to turn on the taps and drowned as the water gradually rose.

“This is a terrible event that will never leave the family,” Caroline Saunders, a forensic pathologist, said of the accident.

“Iris-Mae was a beautiful, intelligent and funny little girl who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her,” said Ayesha Powell, a relative of the family who launched a support page.

“Iris-Mae’s parents, little brother Oliver, to whom she was also the best big sister, and the rest of her family, all had their lives changed forever. » she concluded.
