orange flood vigilance lifted everywhere in France, Loir-et-Cher remains on yellow vigilance

A return to normal is underway Monday morning October 14 on all rivers in flood in the wake of Storm Kirk. Météo- has lifted the last orange alert for floods in Loir-et-Cher. It goes into yellow alert, like eight other departments in mainland France.

“The decreasing trend is confirmed with the return to yellow vigilance of the Vendômois Loir”indicate the forecaster and the government organization Vigicrues.

Widespread decline in Vendômois

“The weather situation is relatively calm in flooded watersheds. The rains forecast for Monday are light in the north of the country and should not counteract the tendency for rivers to recede. In these conditions, the current floods continue their slow propagation downstream”details Vigicrues in an update published shortly before 6 a.m. this Monday.

In particular, the Vendômois Loir is in general decline, according to Vigicrues.

At the end of the wettest month of September in 25 years, the average annual precipitation totals have already been exceeded almost everywhere in mainland France.
