The guests of honor at the Berric Book Fair, Eugène Riguidel and Nono, spoke about their lives punctuated by struggles, with incredible humor which made the Verger cultural hall resonate with laughter on Saturday afternoon. Curious to discover these extraordinary characters, the public asked them many questions. “It’s a pleasure to come to Berric and meet Daniel again (Editor’s note: Daniel Scourzic, member of the cultural commission who invited the two friends, guests of honor to the Book Fair). We crossed paths 70 years ago,” smiles Eugène Riguidel, who cheerfully wears his 84 years.
“With Nono, we met recently and we became very good friends. We are activists and activism gives enthusiasm! », confides the navigator. Both are proud to be citizens of the world, each defending in their own way the Breton heritage and language, toponymy, ecology, injustices. The latest is to free Paul Watson imprisoned in Denmark for defending whales. “We must stop the massacres! », Proclaims the activist.
Thanks to Florence Artaud, he met Renaud, who also mentions him in his song “Quand le vent soufflera”, quotes the navigator, proud to have been invited to the last concert in Nantes.
A new book presented on Sunday
Nono, a humorous cartoonist at Télégramme, defends minorities and writes travel diaries illustrated in watercolors which create a link with the inhabitants more than a camera. “We are two passionate people. Eugène has a carnal relationship with the sea and I with paper,” says Nono. He illustrated Eugène’s latest work, “A la cocotte, les oysters” which they will present at the Book Fair on Sunday October 13.
