The former independent manager tried this week in Geneva engaged in “serious” behavior, which should have earned him 4 to 5 years in prison, prosecutor Sophie Varga Lang said on Thursday. But the defendant collaborated with the courts, admitted the essential facts and made efforts at the start of the procedure to repair the damage he caused to his clients. As a result, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested 3 years in prison, including 18 months, against the former financier, who has already served 5 months in preventive detention after his arrest in February 2019.

Nothing in the defendant’s personal situation explains why he embezzled some $10 million to the detriment of a dozen clients, the prosecutor argued. With a family, a house in a Geneva commune, a chalet in Crans-Montana, multiple family vacations or the support of his wife, G* “had everything to do well”.
