During the fourth edition of the “World Power-to-X Summit” in Marrakech, Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, revealed the enormous potential of the sector green hydrogen and renewable energies to stimulate job creation in Morocco.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing solid guarantees to attract investors, while highlighting the opportunities offered by these sectors as part of Moroccan ambitions in terms of energy transition and sustainable development.

He specified that the needs of the Moroccan labor market reach around 300,000 positions per year, and that the green hydrogen and renewable energy sector could generate around 10% of direct jobs by 2030, or around 30,000 jobs. . The minister also highlighted the importance of coordination between the various public and private actors to succeed in this ambitious challenge.

The minister recalled that, thanks to the offer contained in the Investment Code and the new strategy which will be announced with the next Finance Law, the government is striving to support job creation in this sector. Several mechanisms are planned to support the needs of investors, particularly in terms of training.

Sekkouri also stressed that Morocco has a training network adapted to the needs of businesses, with the creation of three large specialized institutions in Oujda, Tangier and Ouarzazate, managed by the private sector with support from the State, in addition establishments under the aegis of the Office for Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT).
