Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast by MeteoSwiss for the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
The tail of tropical storm Kirk is expected to be felt in Switzerland during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and partly during the day on Thursday. Strong winds and heavy rain can be expected, MeteoSwiss warns.
A cold front will reach the north of the Alps during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. It will be accompanied by stormy winds on the Jura and in the plains.
Under the influence of the Foehn, the wind should reach peaks of 70 to 100 km/h in the Alpine valleys, and even up to 130 km/h on the ridges of the Alps.
On the heights of the Jura, peaks of 130 km/h are possible, specifies the forecasters’ blog. In the plains, gusts of 60 to 90 km/h should be feared, from midnight, moving from west to east. The wind should weaken in the morning. (sda/ats)
