“Increased risk of accidents”: 239,000 Honda and Acura vehicles recalled in Canada

The automaker Honda has decided to recall thousands of vehicles in Canada after finding a problem in the steering box of certain recent models, which can lead to “an increased risk of accident or injury.”

This recall affects 239,000 2022-2025 Honda and Acura cars so that their owners get a free repair of a defective part in the steering gear.

“A poorly manufactured steering gear worm wheel can swell when exposed to ambient heat and humidity, reducing the thickness of the grease film between the worm wheel and the steering gear. worm gear,” explained Honda Canada in a press release on Wednesday.

The spring tension of the worm wheel was also incorrectly adjusted, increasing the sliding force between components.

“Excessive friction between these components can result in increased steering effort and difficulty, or sticky steering,” the manufacturer said.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail to arrange to visit a dealer who will add grease and replace the auger spring with an upgraded part.

Here is the list of recalled vehicles:
  • 2022-2025 Honda Civic Sedan
  • 2022-2025 Honda Civic Hatchback
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Hatchback
