The Confederation wants Swiss households to better prepare for unexpected situations. It has just launched an “emergency reserves calculator” to help them better prepare for crises. The tool allows you to establish a shopping list adapted to the needs and size of the household. The government specifies in a press release: “The Covid-19 pandemic or the extreme weather events which occurred in 2024 in different regions of Switzerland show that unexpected situations can arise at any time.”
To perform the calculation, the user is asked to enter the number of adults, children and babies in the household. It can also indicate the presence of a pet, as well as each person’s eating habits. The tool takes into account forms of diet, such as vegetarianism, gluten, lactose and nut intolerances. Finally, simply enter the desired number of days (up to two weeks). The calculator will provide a sheet with the products to purchase and their quantity. In addition to the pantry, he also determines the necessary hygiene items, medicines and utensils.
