With his eye glued to his camera, Antoine Campa doesn’t miss any of the highlights of Basket Landes. Behind the baskets, near Julie Barennes’ bench or in the locker room after the final whistle, he perceives the importance of each moment of a collective life to immortalize the most important images. Always with discretion. Undeniably, he prefers this position to that of being in front of the lens.

It’s been seven years now since the Montois began his adventure within the team of employees of one of the flagship clubs of the Women’s Basketball League. “I was not predestined for this,” he says.

He begins with a three-year work-study cycle, during which he takes care of ticketing. A jack of all trades, he is entrusted with other missions such as emailing or managing social networks.

This young basketball player (who notably wore the colors of Stade Montois) permanently joined the team after these three years. “They made me an offer, I accepted it. I didn’t want to continue my studies,” he smiles.

Scam and “wooden leg”

Antoine Campa starts in special conditions, with the constraints linked to the Covid health crisis. “The team was in the Euroleague. The matches were played on single sites. I wanted to share that with our supporters,” he continues.

A first season that he will not soon forget. “I got ripped off on Le Bon Coin when I bought my first camera and I freaked out at that moment,” recalls the communications manager at Basket Landes. I filmed with a wooden leg. ” But the result is there. Images in the discretion of the Landes locker room resonate with supporters and the public. “It happened like that,” he notes. At first, I spent my nights editing videos. »

With great determination, the young man moved upmarket to bring more and more to the supporters, who are never satisfied with discovering the secrets of this family club. “People like to see things they don’t have access to. I have carte blanche to do this. I take enormous pleasure. »

On social networks, Basket Landes is also moving upmarket. It is one of the most prominent women’s sports clubs on the web behind “the PSG and OL women’s clubs”.

A work that he also carries out “thanks to a relationship of trust” with Julie Barennes, the coach of Basket Landes.

For this season, Antoine Campa has brought a little renewal. Episodes of “L’Encatada” are awaited by blue and white supporters. The unmissable event at the start of the week. “At the end of the exercise, we were reaching the end of a sporting cycle, I wanted to change a little,” he notes. He offers “slightly intimate” interviews with the players.

Also support

Employee and supporter too. “It’s obvious,” he smiles. I’m the first to complain on the sidelines. I know how lucky I am to experience exceptional moments thanks to them. » He made all the trips, both for the Women’s League and in the Euroleague. “These are exceptional moments that I have the chance to experience,” he adds, evoking memories, among others, of a new final at Bercy for the Coupe de France. “The season is already successful. We didn’t expect this journey,” he insists.

This Saturday, May 11, in the evening, Antoine will be with his camera on the edge of the field. He believes in the chances of Kendra Chery and her partners. He knows the importance of this evening. “It’s the last match of the season at Mitterrand. Even though it will be hard, the girls can still do something huge. They find this role of outsider which is so successful for them. » It will be time to say goodbye for some who will leave the club at the end of this exercise. “These are evenings full of emotion, during which we can tell lots of things in pictures,” relishes the young man.

In blue and white, Antoine is having a crazy adventure. Very different from season to season. “The good thing here is that I get to know a little bit of everything. That’s what’s great about Basket Landes, we’re a small team. We give each other a helping hand. This is what I like and what makes me happy there. »

And to promise to immortalize more crazy things. Like a new French champion title after that of 2021? Response begins this Saturday, around 10:15 p.m.

At the service of Fiba!

Antoine Campa’s work has gone beyond the limits of the Landes department and even those of the Women’s League. For several months, the Landais has been collaborating with the authorities of the International Basketball Federation. He joined the communications pool.
“I had the opportunity to cover Olympic qualifying tournaments. Recently, I went to Mersin for the final four of the Women’s Euroleague,” he says. Soon, he will cover the men’s Olympic qualifying tournament in Valencia for international authorities. This summer, he will go to Portugal then to Finland for the youth world championships. And to conclude: “I am experiencing extraordinary moments thanks to my work that I do at Basket Landes. I realize how lucky I am. »
