The last time they saw each other was in Brussels, on March 18, for the official start of negotiations between Switzerland and the EU. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Viola Amherd, President of the Confederation, will this time meet in a completely different setting: in the canton of Nidwalden, in Bürgenstock.

Ursula von der Leyen confirmed Thursday evening her arrival at the conference on Ukraine organized by Switzerland, which will take place on June 15 and 16, just after the G7 summit in Italy. A few hours earlier it was Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, who responded positively to Switzerland. He even, on X, called on “all world leaders to support Switzerland’s peace efforts”.
