As part of the energetic transition and the fight against climate change, the town of Chartrettes, in Seine-et-Marne, is embarking on a major project: the creation of a photovoltaic park on the site of the old quarry of Trouboulan sand.

» It aims to exploit a renewable energy Source to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and preserve the local environment, on a site that has been abandoned for many years, explains the mayor, Pascal Gros. This project will integrate into the natural landscape without visual and noise nuisance for neighboring houses and walkers.

7.2 hectares of panels

The municipal council voted in favor of the project, which will be implemented with EDF renewable. This solar park 7.2 hectares will produce energy for a city of 4,000 inhabitantsa population slightly larger than that of Chartrettes.

“Thanks to this photoelectric plant and our hydraulic central, we will be a positive municipality in the production of renewable energies, enthuses the elected official. Chartrettes is one of the first municipalities in Seine-et-Marne to embark on this adventure! We will not be in self-production, because the energy will be directly injected into the national network “.

The residents of Chartrettes were regularly consulted. » It is a project which, overall, was acclaimed by the Chartretto residents, continues Pascal Gros. We will begin, once the signatures with EDF Renewable have been made, to enter into the phases ofimpact study on fauna, flora and biodiversity. This study will last approximately one year.” Regarding the schedule, if it goes as planned, the opening of the park is scheduled for 2027.

Public buildings

The municipality also has a second project linked to ENR Renewable which concerns an energy Source inself-consumption for the public buildings. The mayor draws the outlines: »The idea would be to install 400 m2 500 m away2 of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Combrieu gymnasium. This would make it possible to fuel the integrity of the consumption of the Chartrettes schools, and perhaps in part the town hall and the cultural center. But for the moment, we have technical constraints to verify and we have commissioned a design firm.”

A financial gain

The installation of the photovoltaic panels is financed by the operator, who is responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and future dismantling, up to more than1 million euros.

» For the municipality, it’s zero cost!, concludes Pascal Gros. On the contrary, it is a gain of money thanks to the lease which will allow us to collect part of the property taxes, linked to the establishment of the structure on our land. This is all good for public finances! »
