Due to coastal reformation, Tuesday’s system is expected to intensify and dump significant amounts of rain in eastern regions of Quebec. Forecasts.

Up to 150mm
It’s a real cold shower that awaits residents of the eastern regions of Quebec. By Wednesday morning, quantities could reach up to 150 mm locally, particularly between Sept-Îles and Port-Cartier. Gaspésie will not be spared: quantities could exceed 100 mm in places. The corridor stretching from Gaspé to Baie-des-Chaleurs would be the most watered, with quantities that could exceed 125 mm.
Risks not to be neglected
Caution will be required: these significant accumulations could cause flooding and flash floods. Remember that due to the topography, the quantities of water dumped in mountainous terrain could have consequences on lower altitude sectors due to runoff.
All this rain could put a lot of pressure on waterways. Added to this is the risk of aquaplaning due to rapid accumulation of water on the roadway and gusts of up to 70 km/h in Gaspésie and the Lower North Shore. In the outskirts, the rain will be less heavy. Between 15 and 25 mm are expected for the Rimouski region and between 30 and 50 mm near Matane.
