Monizze wants to cap meal vouchers at €12
According to him, the arguments presented do not hold up. “We are being told of a system that would be too complicated and a simplification and relying solely on meal vouchershe continues. But the ecocheck system has been digital since 2016 and uses the same card as for meal vouchers. We have worked very hard in recent years to ensure that “signposting” is as easy as possible for merchants, who had to adapt their checkout system. Our Belgian system is recognized throughout Europe and we want to eliminate it, it’s really strange.“
He also recalls the benefits of ecochecks. “We have a lot of numbers on this. We know that more than 70% of consumers would not have purchased a particular ecological product if they had not taken advantage of ecochecks. Merchants who accept ecochecks realize that customers buy twice as much because of it. Finally, I would add that this is a solution, like meal vouchers, which makes it possible to encourage purchases in Belgium, and not abroad.“
