In Normandy, a 6-year-old child died after drowning in a campsite swimming pool

Emergency services were called on Thursday May 9, 2024 to the Saint-Germain-sur-Ay campsite, near Coutances (Manche), after the drowning of a 6-year-old child early in the afternoon. The firefighters were unable to revive him.

A 6-year-old child died on Thursday May 9, 2024, early in the afternoon, after drowning in the swimming pool at the Saint-Germain-sur-Ay campsite, near Coutances (Manche).

Emergency services were called between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and a helicopter was dispatched to the scene to transport the boy to hospital. Unfortunately, the firefighters were unable to revive him, confirms the gendarmerie. The child, originally from Calvados, was on vacation with his family.
