The Department of Haute-Garonne has launched its “reasoned mowing” campaign

An innovative method of roadside maintenance. Until the end of December 2024, the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne will cut vegetation along the roads. This operation makes it possible to meet the needs of users and maintain the public domain, while respecting biodiversity.

Two mowings per year instead of three

Planned and rationalized, “reasoned mowing” is intended to improve the road safetybut also to preserve or even restore biodiversity and plant life cycles mowed and the species that depend on them.

Since 2015, the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council has evolved its mowing practices and adapted them to the growth of vegetation in order to control it sustainably. So, some areas are only mowed twice a year.

There is no intervention in summer because the height of the vegetation is contained thanks to a first delayed intervention,” indicates the Department on its website.

This year, these “delayed” mowing operations will take place until June 7, 2024 for the entire territory, from September 23, 2024 to the end of January 2025 in the plain and from September 16 to November 22, 2024 in mountain areas.

Therefore, users are called upon to remain even more vigilant to guarantee the safety of road officials. More information at 05 34 33 49 46.
