The Federal Office for Equality between Women and Men will apply this principle at the highest level from September 1. The Federal Council on Wednesday appointed Stéphanie Lachat and Gian Beeli as co-directors. The duo will succeed Sylvie Durrer, who will retire.

Stéphanie Lachat and Gian Beeli will each assume an occupancy rate of 90%. Due to internal compensation, this formula does not entail additional costs, specifies the Federal Council. And to recall that this Office promotes equality between the sexes in all areas and is committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination.

Stéphanie Lachat has worked since 2021 as a strategic advisor for Neuchâtel State Councilor Florence Nater. This 49-year-old sociologist has carried out gender studies in Lausanne and Geneva.

Gian Beeli is currently responsible for the Office’s Violence area and a member of the extended management. Aged 42, he studied psychology in Zurich.

Sylvie Durrer, director since 2011, will retire this year.
