The latest study by the Observatory of Immigration and Demography (OID) focuses on immigration in the territories between 2006 et 2021. Two municipalities of Morbihan are in the top 25 French towns with between 20,000 and 100,000 inhabitants.

, historically less concerned

Between 2006 et 2021the share of immigrants within the French population increased from 8.1% to 10.2%.

The study notes a “rapid increase in the share of immigrants in territories among the least affected by immigration until now, with a notable shift in the regions of the Great West (Brittany, …). »

This increase can be explained in particular by the development of reception centers for asylum seekers (EACH) and theemergency accommodation for asylum seekers (HUDA). “It is the Pays de la Loire, Brittany, and regions which have seen the greatest number of creations over the last ten years,” recalls the study.

Lorient and Vannesrespectively 12ᵉ and 25ᵉ, appear in the ranking of medium-sized cities.

For the city of five ports, the share of immigrants in the population was multiplied by 2.18 between 2006 and 2021. There are 9% immigrants in the Lorient population in 2021.

Pour Valvesthe share of immigrants is multiplied by 1.99 in fifteen years. In 2021, 7.1% of the Vannes population is immigrant. For the two Morbihan municipalities, the share of immigrants in the population remains below the national average.

In the study, we find two other Breton municipalities: Ferns (x2.56) and Concarneau (x2). For these two municipalities, we started from very low. Indeed, in 2021, Fougères has 5.1% immigrants in its population and Concarneau 2.6%. Well below the national average.
