The post- 2024 boost is in full swing in the Ile-de- judo clubs. In , this dynamic should make it possible to strengthen innovative projects.

Win like Teddy Riner and exult like Joan-Benjamin Gaba. This is the dream of the many young new practitioners who, white kimonos on their backs, have been pushing through the doors of Ile-de-France clubs since the start of the school year. An effect that Louis Serville, president of the Yvelines Judo Committee, had seen it coming. “At the end of the Games, if Teddy Riner wins Olympic gold, it will allow us to continue to develop our sport,” he prophesied.

Mission accomplished for the French heavyweight giant, which enabled Ile-de-France judo to have a busy start to the school year. To the delight of clubs, particularly in Yvelines. “In terms of licensees, we had 10% more licensees in 2023-2024 compared to the previous year”reveals Louis Serville. “We are therefore very satisfied, especially as this is an increase that continues over time, we welcome a growing number of graduates each year and during each start of the school year. »

Healthy Taïso, the new trend

The number of these licensees will further grow in the weeks and months to come, allowing the Yvelines Judo Committee and Louis Serville, re-elected until 2028, to strengthen the innovative projects already in place. “Women’s judo is doing very well, we also have veterans with world, European and French champions. We have also developed handi judo. We have groups on Saturday morning, we find around twenty participants with accompanying people, teachers and practitioners. Last year, we also focused on Taïso health, and more particularly on Taïso Parkinson. This year, we are continuing to develop this element by going, for example, to EHPADs or to the departments of certain hospitals. »

So many initiatives which will be reinforced in Yvelines, a region which also dreams of a very specific infrastructure. “The development of a departmental dojo is close to my heart. Currently, Yvelines does not have any. However, this would make it possible to have a “temple of judo” for the development of the practice within the department”underlines Louis Serville. “We still have good days ahead of us. I see it in the clubs, judo is increasingly seen as an educational and well-being elementespecially by parents who put their children in judo. »
