Rave party: Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d’Armor ban festive gatherings during Ascension weekend

The partygoers are in the sights. After the giant rave party which brought together nearly 10,000 people at the Quimper airport site during the Easter weekend, the authorities want to avoid a repeat in the region on the occasion of this (very) long Ascension weekend.

The Prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine and Brittany, Philippe Gustin, issued a prefectural decree on Tuesday May 7, 2024 prohibiting all festive gatherings of an unauthorized musical nature – such as rave parties – in the department until Monday 13 May 2024. The same measure was taken by the prefect of Côtes-d’Armor, until the same date.

Ban on transporting sound systems

“According to information collected by the Ille-et-Vilaine gendarmerie group, several sound systems are calling, via social networks, for a festive gathering of a musical nature,” indicates the Ille-et-Vilaine document. Ugly.

During this same period, it is also prohibited to transport into the department “sound equipment likely to be used for an unauthorized festive gathering of musical nature”. The prefect specifies that “any offense is subject to sanctions […] and may give rise to the seizure of the material with a view to its confiscation by the court.”
