Man with pants down bites, scratches and hits three police officers downtown

Three police officers were injured by a 23-year-old individual who had his pants down in the heart of downtown Montreal on Tuesday afternoon.

The patrol officers first received a call around 2:40 p.m. asking them to inquire about the state of health of a man who gave the impression of not feeling very well, on Sainte-Catherine Street. West, near McGill College Street.

The man engaged in obscene gestures, according to our information.

Police officers on bicycles arrived first on the scene. By wanting to establish physical contact with the suspect, who had his pants down, the latter immediately punched one of the officers in the head.

A second police officer then intervened and was scratched in the face by the individual, who then fled.

Reinforcements were then called and a police officer managed to catch up with the suspect a little further away. Far from giving in, the young man injured a third agent by biting him on the arm.

The suspect was finally able to be subdued, but cayenne pepper had to be used to calm his ardor.

He was transported to the police station for questioning and criminal charges of assault against a peace officer could be laid against him in the coming hours.

The three injured officers were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
