The Bmw caught fire following an accident in Perchay (Val-d’Oise), putting an end to its driver’s run. A 21-year-old young man who had sped away to escape a control of the gendarmes of the gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (Psig) of Pontoise on the D14, on the night of Friday March 22 to Saturday March 23. And for good reason, in his vehicle, the soldiers discovered 63.1 kg of cannabis.
Tried on Friday May 3 before the Pontoise criminal court for refusal to comply, transport and possession of drugsthe young man was sentenced to 30 months in prison with continued detention.
Phone while driving
At the wheel of his BMW, he was spotted around 4:40 a.m. zigzagging on the D14 in the direction of Paris – Province by the Psig crew from Pontoise. The soldiers came up to the driver and noticed that the driver was holding his phone in his hand.
They then signaled him to follow them and take the exit towards Vigny in order to carry out his inspection. The driver slowed down before accelerating and fleeing onto the secondary road.
Accident, his vehicle catches fire
It leaves the D14 at Théméricourt and continues his run on the D51. The fugitive ended up losing control of his large sedan in a roundabout at the entrance to the town of Perchay. His vehicle having caught fire, the driver, injured, managed to escape.
He was then taken care of by the gendarmes who arrived on the scene shortly after the accident and provided him with first aid while waiting for the arrival of the firefighters who deployed a hose to put out the flames of the car.
Once the incident was contained, the soldiers were alerted by a strong smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle. As they approached, they discovered dozens of bales of resin in plastic bags in the trunk.
To pay for your driving license
Transported to hospital in a relative emergency, the driver, residing in Essonne, had been banned by the courts from appearing in Val-d’Oise. In court, he admitted that he knew he was transporting drugs, but assured that he did not know the quantity. He would have accepted this job for 1,500 euros in order to pay for his driving license.
