Vendée: they are cleaning a beach and come across a shell!

They had come for collect plastic on the beach. In the end, they will have found a shell.

From 9 a.m. this morning of May 7, 2024, the Meravenir association organized a cleaning of part of Tanchet beach, in Les Sables-d’Olonne.

An operation in partnership with the town’s IES Business School.

“I thought it was a piece of wood”

Around 10:30 a.m., it was Kyllian, a student at IES Business School, who discovered the shell between the rockshalf buried in the sand.

“I thought it was a piece of woodso I dug it out of the sand and saw that it was a shell,” he says.

The association immediately notified the Sables-d’Olonne police.

Part of the beach closed

At 11 a.m., the police were setting up a security perimeter south of Tanchet at the SNSM rescuers’ stele, waiting for the deminers.

The beach remains accessible.
