A 13-year-old teenager was indicted and placed under judicial supervision in Mont-Saint-Martin (Meurthe-et-) for advocating terrorism.

This decision comes after the discovery on his phone of videos linked to radical Islamism. It was the judicial police who arrested him, according to information from sources close to the case.

The minor, of French nationality, was already known to the police and territorial intelligence services.

The investigation, led by the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) of Meurthe-et-Moselle, began at the end of May when the police discovered compromising files in the teenager’s phone.

According to the Republican Lorrainethese videos showed the young boy filming himself dressed in outfit similar to that of the jihadists, brandishing fake weapons and pledging allegiance to the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS).

During his hearing, the teenager admitted his actions, calling them “big stupidity”. However, the seriousness of the facts did not prevent his indictment. Investigators are continuing their investigations to determine the precise circumstances which led the young man to become involved in such acts. He was arrested on Wednesday October 2, before being placed in police custody.

This case raises concerns about the radicalization of young people, a phenomenon which continues to concern the authorities.
