Swore. Angry nurses want to mark the occasion on May 16

“We are on the edge of the abyss and we are struggling to make ourselves heard.” It is in these terms that Carole Giboudot, member of the collective of angry liberal nurses (union collective), summarizes the situation experienced by liberal nurses in the Jura, and everywhere in France. These health professionals are demanding an increase in the prices of medical procedures. A year ago, on May 12, 2023, Jura nurses had already mobilized in the streets of Lons. This time, the collective is preparing a demonstration on May 16 at 8 p.m. in several cities in France.

In the Jura, the meeting place is at Place de la Liberté in Lons-le-Saunier. This time, the collective wishes to remain discreet about the format of the event, in order to mark the occasion.

Blood test charged 6 euros

“The prices for medical procedures have not been increased since 2009,” recalls Carole Giboudot. For example, a blood test costs 6 euros. Once the charges are removed, we have around 3 euros left.” The flat rate for a home trip is currently set at 2.75 euros. An insufficient amount in the eyes of the nurses who are asking for an increase to 5 euros. With rising costs for fuel, electricity, insurance and even equipment such as gloves, angry nurses estimate they have lost 25% of their purchasing power. Finally, nurses would like the arduousness of their work to be taken into account for early retirement.
