Meeting of the Socialist Party without Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye, the sad reasons revealed!

Last weekend, Serigne Mbaye Thiam chaired the work of the Socialist Party (PS), initially planned for the previous Thursday but postponed following the death of Gaston Mbengue, the brother of the party’s Secretary General, Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye. Gaston Mbengue, known for his role in promoting the struggle, died on May 1, 2024. This family mourning prevented Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye from participating in the meeting.

According to the newspaper Les Echos, this meeting was intended to prepare a seminar to evaluate the presidential election of March 24. Participants received directives from the National Executive Secretariat (NES) to develop proposals regarding the terms of reference for future discussions, the date of which is yet to be determined.

It was also mentioned that the idea of organizing an Extraordinary Congress is currently being discussed. In addition, a significant mobilization of young people is observed, aiming to strengthen the presence of the Socialist Party in the political landscape currently dominated by Pastef les Patriotes.
