Nestled in the heart of nature, on the banks of the Somme, the Château d’Eaucourt-sur-Somme offers the perfect setting for a journey back in time.
Every year, history lovers and enthusiasts of the medieval era meet at this historical site to relive ancient times during medieval days.
Usually organized in summer, it will be possible to enjoy the Médiévales in preview on the occasion of the ascension bridge, from May 9 to 11, 2024.
For three days, visitors will be immersed in the everyday life villagers from Middle Ages thanks to different animations.
It will be possible to put yourself in the shoes of a leather craftsmanof a sculptor or even a Carpenter and a builderas you wish.
Living in the 18th century
With those entertainmentyoung and old will be able to learn the ancestral techniques workers of the time.
It will also be possible to try other detailed arts of the Middle Ages, such as illumination and the practice of calligraphy.
The bravest will be able to slip into the shoes of a knight by participating in the fencing workshops and of crossbow shooting.
To top it all off, visitors will be able to to dance at the rate of medieval music like the knights and ladies of the time.
And Saturday May 11, 2024a companion who worked on the construction site of Notre Dame de Paris will be present for a demonstration beam squaring.
In addition to the festivities, it is possible to freely visit the castleoutside of event days, to admire the remains of the entrance gateTHE medieval garden and the upper parts of the walls of the seigniorial home revealed by archaeological excavations.
History buffs, craft enthusiasts or simply looking for an activity to do at the Ascension Bridge, discover the remains of this 13th century fortress from a different perspective.
Thursday May 9, Friday May 10 and Saturday May 11 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Prices: €5 for ages 5 – 14. €7 for over 15s.
