It has been a long time since there has been a gourmet address at the port of Barsac (Gironde) on the banks of the Garonne. Ideal spot for strolling in the shade while enjoying a board. Remember, a tavern already existed near the river. It had actually caught fire a few months ago. The unmissable site was, at the time, the meeting place for all Barsacais.

But now, place for “Kairos”, a new mobile tavern which, at any time, can withdraw in the event of the Garonne overflowing. This is the project of Patrick Marzac, owner of a bar in Podensac (Le Chronos) for six years. “Basically the project was in Podensac, but it didn’t happen,” admits the manager of the new tavern.

A non-stop service on the banks of the Garonne

Why Barsac? “A return to my roots, I grew up here,” explains Patrick, who is launching this project with his wife Katia and his cousin Fred. While they are finalizing the arrival of the tavern, the objective is to revive the port, but also to diversify.

Financially, we can no longer be satisfied with anything other than the bar

An address open to the family

“Financially, we can no longer be satisfied with just the bar. The bar isn’t what it used to be. We know it. People have their beers and have a drink with friends. We decided to make this change as a family to find our way,” says Patrick.

The address should remain open until the end of October. If this year is satisfactory, we will be able to find it every year for six months, from the start of the season from May. “The idea is to serve non-stop from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you arrive at 2 p.m. and want to eat a bruschetta, it’s possible. »

The place will be closed on Tuesday and Sunday.

From Saturday, it’s grills and oysters, as well as a small restaurant (charcuterie boards, cheeses, pancakes, poke bowl, etc.). But also wines, beers, and Lillet… It will therefore be possible to have an aperitif there with your eyes absorbed by the current of the Garonne. Four days before its official opening, all that’s missing is the garlands, a few tables, with a musical background for the “guinguette” magic to work… Opening scheduled for Friday May 10!

The new tavern “Le Kairos” will be able to accommodate around fifty people. Address: port of Barsac, 33 720.
