Vaucluse: in Malaucène, boxes from traders are collected by bike

It is in the presence of Jacqueline Bouyac, president of the Ventoux Comtat Venaissin urban community (CoVe), and Frédéric Tenon, mayor of Malaucène, Aurore Chevalier, designer of the project, and Jessy Cavagna, pilot of the machine, elected officials and representatives of the City that the first cargo bike dedicated to collecting boxes from the village’s merchants was inaugurated.

The collection will allow them to get rid of the boxes without cluttering up the municipality’s collection points dedicated to residents. This collection will take place from May to the end of September, two visits per week are planned: Tuesday and Friday morning. Last Tuesday on the first day of the collection, Jessy Cavagna made two rounds. This Friday, she did one more.

A bike made in Vaucluse

The bike was bought in the village and the trailer was made by Fabryciclette de Carpentras. The latter responds to specific customer requests, Léo Comte has already manufactured a Smoothie trailer for the CoVe. The cargo trailer, for boxes, can transport up to 300 kg, the side drop sides can accommodate 1 m³ of boxes.

This economical and ecological solution was obvious at the foot of Ventoux. As was the case for other municipalities. On the other side of the Rhône, in Gard, the town hall of Villeneuve-lez-Avignon embarked on this adventure last summer. Carpentras had already taken this path a few months earlier.

In Avignon, meals from two schools are transported by non-motorized two-wheelers. An ecological mode of transport which has been in the testing phase since the beginning of May. A mode of transport which seems to be proving its worth since there is already talk of extending it.
