Late Friday afternoon, a violent altercation took place on the Beaugrenelle slab, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, indicates Le Parisien. Young people from rival gangs, the “RD4” and those from Balard, clashed with bladed weapons.
During this brawl, three people were injured, including a minor who was hit in the head and taken to hospital in relative emergency. At the scene, authorities found a katana and a hockey stick.
Three injured, three arrests
The police made three arrests, corresponding to the three injured people treated at the hospital. The deputy mayor for security of the 15th arrondissement, Anthony Samama, announced a strengthening of police patrols and the mobilization of educators to try to defuse future clashes. The situation, considered worrying, is being closely monitored in order to avoid a possible “return match” between these groups of young people.
The mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, called for stricter security measures, in particular the installation of new surveillance cameras and the implementation of a security plan for the Beaugrenelle slab, promised by the City of Paris after the Yuriy affair in 2021. He also spoke of the need to strengthen lighting and to block certain exits from the esplanade, fearing that a new serious incident could occur again.
