Radio-Canada Acadie teams win 11 awards for excellence in journalism

Journalistic teams from Radio-Canada Acadie enjoyed an evening full of emotions on Saturday, winning 11 awards at the annual gala Atlantic Journalism Awardsin Halifax.

These are four Gold awards, four Silver awards and two Bronze awards for excellence in journalism, and an award given to cameraman Pierre Richard for his entire 45-year career.

Gold Award

Journalist Michèle Brideau in the breaking news category for her report Closure of two special care homes in New Brunswickbroadcast on January 18, 2023.

Journalist Louis-Philippe Trozzo received two Gold awards, one in the impact reporting category for Blueberry fields engulf the forest in the Acadian Peninsula, broadcast on November 9, 2023; and the other in the category of indigenous affairs reporting for Indigenous people defy law to sell cannabis in downtown Monctonbroadcast on September 7, 2023.

Journalist Gabrielle Drumond in the video journalism category for her coverage of the Prince Edward Island provincial elections in January, February and March 2023.

Silver Prize

Journalists Marc Babin, Mark Doiron, Lisa Revil, François Pierre Dufault and Julie Sicot in the radio broadcasts category for their coverage of the floods on the show Le Réveil Nova Scotia / Newfoundland and Labrador on July 24, 2023.

The show team The Acadie newscast in the television news category for its coverage of September 20, 2023, a day marked by protests and counter-protests across the country over gender identity.

The journalistic team of Radio-Acadie Acadie in the business reporting category for its coverage of the transition at UNI Financial Cooperation, from March to December 2023.

Journalists Louis-Philippe Trozzo and René Landry in the environmental reporting category for Deforestation in the Acadian Peninsulabroadcast on November 9 and 10, 2023.

Bronze Award

Journalist Luc Lapointe in the radio bulletin category for coverage of the Prime Minister’s decision Blaine Higgs not to call an early election in New Brunswick, broadcast on November 3, 2023.

Journalist Laurent Rigaux in the public affairs reporting category for The never-ending quarrel between neighbors on Prince Edward Island broadcast on November 8, 2023.

The teams of CBC in the four Atlantic provinces won 22 awards, including nine Gold, five Silver and eight Bronze.
