Suspended prison sentence for contempt, threats and violence against Gard firefighters – News

In 2023, an individual had insulted and threatened firefighters with a knife who were intervening for his psychiatric care.

An individual was sentenced on October 2 by the Nîmes criminal court to 6 months’ imprisonment suspended for 2 years, with an obligation to provide care, to work, to reimburse the civil parties and to pay a fine to the public treasury. He was prosecuted for insults, threats and violence against firefighters.

The facts date back to June 9, 2023. That day, three firefighters from the Villeneuve-lès- emergency center intervened to provide psychiatric care. The individual then undressed, insulted the firefighters then took a folding knife from his pocket, marking the body of the vehicle with a cross, throwing a branch on the vehicle.

The firefighters concerned and Sdis 30 had filed a complaint. The civil party filings were declared admissible and allowed damages to be obtained.

The president and director of Sdis affirm their fullest support for the attacked firefighters and express their indignation at this intolerable act. They recall that the filing of complaints and the triggering of the global “OMV” procedure are systematic in the event of contempt, threats or violence.
