The month of September was marked by a slight increase in unemployment, the number of people registered with regional employment offices (ORP) having increased by 1,891 (+1.7%) compared to August, for a total of 22,419 The unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage point to 2.5%. Adjusted for seasonal variations (CVS), the proportion of unemployed also recorded an increase of 0.1 point to 2.6%, the State Secretariat for the Economy (Seco) indicated on Friday.

Stability prevailed for the 15 to 24 age category. The youth unemployment rate remained at 2.7%, while statistics show 52 additional registrants (+0.4%) in ORPs. Among seniors, an increase of 1.5% in unemployment occurred in September, for an unchanged proportion at 2.2%.

84,373 job seekers

Seco counted 84,373 job seekers in September, i.e. 4,137 more people or an increase of 2.3%. Vacancies jumped 5.7% to 38,320 units. The press release also provides partial unemployment statistics for the month of July. Reductions in working hours (RHT) affected 2,566 people, which represents a drop of 59% over one month. For companies, the decline is 37.9% for 198 companies applying partial unemployment.

The number of people who exhausted their rights to unemployment benefits in July amounted to 2,454, or +7.5% month-on-month.
