The disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) sanctioned Atlético de Madrid with a partial closure of its stadium for three matches due to incidents that occurred last Sunday during the La Liga derby against Real.

The Commission, which also imposed a fine of 45,000 euros on the club for “very serious infringements”, judged that the facts were serious but confined to a specific area of the stadium, hence the partial nature of the sanction, thus avoiding ‘affect the entire Metropolitano.

Although this was the action of an unrepresentative minority of supporters, Atlético Madrid failed to take adequate measures to prevent such incidents for a rivalry match in a top professional competition , estimates the instance.

The managers of the rojiblanco club have the possibility of appealing to the Competition Committee and, in the event of disagreement, bringing the matter before the Court of Arbitration for Sport to request a reduction of the sanction through the appropriate channels.
