Safi – The Safi customs services proceeded, Thursday, to the incineration of 8.1 tonnes of Chira (cannabis resin) and other prohibited products, recently seized by customs agents, the Royal Gendarmerie and the police judicial.

The destruction operation, which took place in a factory located in the rural commune of Had Hrara, approximately 35 km from Safi, also involved 858 kg of kif, 1,240 psychotropic tablets, 0.5 grams of cocaine, 120 grams of powdered tobacco and 100 grams of leaf tobacco.

In a statement to MAP, Abdelbasset El Imami, Customs and Indirect Taxes liquidator at the Safi Office, indicated that this operation comes following a joint action by the services of the provincial district of National Security in Safi and the National Brigade of the judicial police, having made it possible to foil, at the end of last month, an attempt at international drug trafficking involving 8 tonnes and 125 kg from Chira, via the port of the Cité des Océans.

“This operation is part of the efforts made by the various security services to combat the trafficking of these illicit products, given their harmful consequences on the health and safety of citizens,” he said. specified.

Furthermore, Mr. El Imami reaffirmed the commitment of the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII) to continue to work in close collaboration with other competent services in order to guarantee public security.

The incineration of these products took place under the supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office near the Safi court of first instance, in the presence of a commission made up of representatives of local authorities, civil protection and the various security and health services of the province.
