It was not yet 9 a.m. on May 2 when a 2 and a half year old boy entered a pedestrian crossing in the 20th arrondissement of Paris with his mother. While he was in the middle of the lane, the child fell off his little scooter, reports Le Parisien. At the same time, a driver turned into the same street and, not seeing the boy now on the ground, allegedly hit and crushed him.

Transported to the emergency room by the firefighters, the child was very seriously injured according to the daily, which specified that his vital prognosis was then in jeopardy and that he suffered a cardiac arrest before his arrival at the Necker specialist hospital. Contacted by the colleagues of Le Parisien, the mayor of the 20th arrondissement who is in contact with the mother, confided that the boy was placed Thursday evening in an artificial coma.

As for the driver who claims not to have seen the child, he was placed in police custody. Screening tests revealed no traces of alcohol or drugs. An investigation was opened by the accident judicial processing service (STJA).
