Marrakech – The Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) of Marrakech, meeting on Wednesday at the headquarters of the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, approved eleven projects under the second phase of the 2024 action plan.

With a total value of 31.18 million dirhams (MDH), with a contribution from the INDH of 29.7 MDH, these projects concern “support programs for people in precarious situations”, “improvement of income and economic integration of young people” as well as “boosting the human capital of rising generations”.

Speaking on this occasion, the wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Farid Chourak, underlined the essential role played by the INDH in supporting projects likely to meet the needs of the region, emphasizing the need to raise the level of objectives so that the proposed projects have a positive impact, particularly on a social level.

After recalling that many social centers have been built over the last twenty years of the Initiative, Mr. Chourak called for the establishment of a joint commission at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech, which will be responsible for carry out visits to all these structures in order to assess their needs in terms of rehabilitation, upgrading and equipment, as well as in terms of supervision and management.

During this meeting, the head of the Social Action Division (DAS) at the Marrakech prefecture, Anouar Dbira Tlemsani, presented the results of the INDH’s achievements at the level of this prefecture for the 2019 period. -2023, noting that 1,800 projects with a total cost of 527.4 MDH, of which the INDH’s contribution amounts to 458.6 MDH, have been implemented.

Some 1,530 projects have been completed, while 270 are in progress, he said.

This meeting was also marked by the signing of two agreements, the first of which concerns the organization of medical campaigns on the health of mothers and children in rural areas, while the second relates to the acquisition of food supplements for the benefit of pregnant women and infants at the prefecture level.

A third agreement providing for the creation of a “Kangaroo” unit for premature newborns in the resuscitation and neonatal intensive care department at the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) in Marrakech, was also signed.

In a statement to MAP, the head of the neonatology department at the level of the CHU Mohammed VI explained that this agreement is part of the improvement of the care of premature newborns and their mothers, in accordance with the objectives of the INDH, in particular the fight against precariousness and the reduction of social disparities, through medical care that meets expectations.

Mr. Maalainine, also president of the association of friends of newborns in the Marrakech-Safi region, stressed that this pilot project at the national level will increase the litter capacity of 16 beds for premature newborns and 16 more for mothers.

At the end of this meeting, Mr. Chourak proceeded with the delivery of six vehicles, acquired within the framework of the INDH, in favor of associations working in the field of disability, and five school buses for the benefit of the municipalities of Harbil, Mnabha , Tassoultante and Ouidane, as well as the distribution of ten bicycles out of a total of 135, acquired for the benefit of students in schools in the municipality of Tassoultante, in addition to paramedical equipment to support the mobility of people with disabilities .
