Overseas Cultural Festival – Le Mans: A tenth edition in the form of a nod to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Faithful to its objectives, the ACMA-Caraïbes association continues its work of promoting West Indian and more generally overseas culture in Sarthe by sharing the cultural heritage of overseas territories. Exchanges which take place throughout the year through the implementation of multiple activities such as introduction to the Creole language, strolling music or traditional cuisine.

However, if there is a strong occasion that really marks this moment of sharing, it is this annual meeting around the Overseas Cultural Festival – Le Mans. Created in 2013, this unifying event bringing together all generations, offers each year, for a weekend, the opportunity to share a cultural and musical program around creations, productions, but also artists from overseas.

This year, due to the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Overseas Cultural Festival-Le Mans has decided to give a nod to this historic sporting and festive event, notably with a mini football tournament open to all and including The semi-finals and the final will take place respectively on May 18 and 19, the dates selected for this 10th editing.

A festive, friendly, but also commemorative festival

Also on the program for this 2024 edition: Kréyol market, craft stands, literary meeting, exhibition, gastronomy, games, shows for children, artistic and musical performances hosted by a host of artists, including Jean-Marie Ragald, the duo Nat and Pat , Victor Martinel from Martinique, Sugar Kawer and Ritchie Kool from Guyana, Enzouna Muana Comore from Grande Comore, the Ré-Elles group and many others.

Moreover, if this festival is intended to be festive and friendly, it is also commemorative. May being the month of celebrations of remembrance and celebrations of the memory of slavery, the slave trade and their abolitions.

Two days where the entire Sarthe region and beyond is invited to discover the riches and cultural diversity, but also the dynamism of the overseas territories. A change of scenery is therefore assured during these two days which promise to be rich and fruitful in terms of sharing, atmosphere and human warmth for the 3,000 expected visitors.
