A technical incident took place this Wednesday, October 2 at the Baccarat crystal factory.
One of the ancillary production equipment within the Manufacture was hit and a detonation took place on “a muffle” (it is in fact an annealing furnace for crystal parts).
No injuries and area evacuated
No craftsman or “collaborator was injured during this incident” and all personnel in the area were evacuated for safety.

“The management and teams of the Manufacture immediately mobilized and all security and control measures were put in place without delay,” explains CEO Maggie Henriquez.

Production of hot hand suspended until further notice
The area has been placed under protection and access is prohibited until further notice. There is no risk identified in the other areas of the Manufacture and only hand hot production activities are suspended and will only resume when all safety measures are guaranteed.
Inauguration of the new Maison Baccarat in Paris on October 10
Firefighters from Baccarat, Plaine de Meurthe and Lunéville, under the responsibility of Captain Thomas Loison, intervened on site to remove any doubts and samples are being taken on the site.
“The absolute priority of the Manufacture’s management is to remain mobilized to ensure the total safety of its teams,” continues Maggie Henriquez.
Baccarat is celebrating its 260th anniversary this year. The new Maison Baccarat in Paris will be inaugurated on October 10.
