– Morges offers itself a delegate to support the demonstrations
The Municipal Council approved the creation of a new position. Its future occupant will be responsible in particular for helping event organizers as best as possible.

For a good ten years, the City of Morges has been hosting a number of events – here the Scarecrow Night of 2022. A delegate will be able to both support them and act as a buffer with all the municipal services requested.

In the canton of Vaud, towns like Vevey, Nyon and Pully have an events coordinator. A “fashion” that Morges is preparing to follow, the Municipal Council having given the green light to this new position.
However, it did not seem a foregone conclusion for the Executive. Last December, while the assembly analyzed the 158 pages that make up the City’s 2024 budget, one chapter particularly sparked discussion: the creation of a position of coordinator of events without going through the box of a specific notice.
The Finance Commission then asked to validate this new expenditure in this way, which the deliberative body had accepted, forcing the Executive to detail its objectives in a separate text. This received approval from the Council on Wednesday evening.
Gateway for organizers
In 2023, more than 400 events were held in the Coquette territory, more than thirty of which require “increased coordination due to their scale,” indicates the Municipality in its notice.
One of the objectives of the future City employee will be to “guide the organizers in order to facilitate their dealings with the services”. The Executive considers possible “a risk of exhaustion or discouragement among the associative fabric” due to the increasingly complex procedures to be respected when setting up an event, a subject of now recurring concern within the committees.
The position will have two components. The first is intended to be a gateway for project leaders, making it possible to “ensure the coordination of events on the municipal territory in collaboration with services and/or external organizers”.
At the same time, the future employee of the City will be responsible for “the organization and coordination of major official events”, such as the 1er August for example.
Remuneration to be clarified
As for the financial aspect, the Executive expects an activity rate of 80%, remunerated between 70,000 and 80,000 francs gross per year.
The ad hoc commission, however, expressed the wish “that the Municipality does not limit its searches to an 80% position”. This is to allow the future employee to “reconcile their family life with a professional activity”.
She also wants the college to “evaluate the opportunities to internalize certain organizational services”, citing the example of Morges Bouge, a “race” without a timer which was held on Thursday in the heights of the city.
