Haut-Rhin. Azerbaijani political refugee stabbed in Mulhouse, he dies from his wounds

Unfortunately he did not survive. THE Sunday September 29, 2024the Azerbaijani videographer Screw Isgandarli was stabbed at his home in Mulhouse by three individuals. According to Le Figaro, he died following his injuries the Tuesday October 1st.

Political refugee in France

Aged 62, the man had obtained asylum policy in France in 2017, after spending a few years in prison in Azerbaijan for his opposition to the regime in place. He had, in fact, been accused of having obstructed the conduct of a vote that he considered rigged.

“Vidadi has devoted his entire life to politics, opposing the current regime. We are sure that the Azerbaijani government sent these killers,” the victim’s brother reacted to our colleagues in Le Figaro.

He would have suffered a fifteen stab woundsas well as other injuries, notably on his arms while he tried to defend himself. An investigation was opened for “attempted murder” before he succumbed to his injuries.

This is not the first time that an Azerbaijani activist has been targeted by this type of act. Muhammad Mirzali, another opponent of the regime living in France, survived several assassination attempts.
