Drug trafficking: police strike in Bécancour and Wôlinak

The fight against drug trafficking is intensifying in Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Abenaki police force conducted searches Tuesday afternoon in Wôlinak and Bécancour.

To put an end to the activities of traffickers in the region, the police carried out several searches, notably in three residences and vehicles on rue des Pins in Wôlinak and on chemin Héon in Bécancour.

According to information obtained by Radio-Canada, not confirmed by the SQ, the police strike targeted individuals linked to criminal bikers. Moreover, a group affiliated with the Hells Angels took up residence in Bécancour some time ago.

The investigation began a few months ago and the strike, still ongoing, mobilizes 45 police officers.
