Les Mureaux, May 3, 2024 – Last Tuesday, April 30, the “Immersion at the heart of the 1905 law” action ended, a project financed in part by the Yvelines prefecture and supported by the PTCE Vivre les Mureaux association. This initiative, which was a great success, allowed high school students from Les Mureaux to familiarize themselves with the principles of secularism through a play and debates.

An educational and civic project

The “Immersion into the heart of the 1905 law” action took place in three stages. The first consisted of a launch evening at the Mureaux cinema, during which the young citizen ambassadors were promoted and the film “La Separation” was screened. The second stage saw students from the Jacques Vaucanson high school work with the Laïcité company on a theatrical reconstruction of the vote on the 1905 law. Finally, the third stage was marked by two performances of the play, open to the public.

A great success

The “Immersion at the heart of the 1905 law” project was a real success. The high school students were very involved in the different stages of the project and were thus able to deepen their knowledge of secularism. The performances of the play were also very appreciated by the public, who were able to participate in enriching debates on the theme of secularism.

A strong commitment from the prefecture

The Yvelines prefecture is proud to have supported this project, which is fully in line with its commitment to secularism and living together. Secularism is a fundamental principle of the French Republic, and it is essential to transmit it to new generations.

Pascal Courtade, prefect delegate for equal opportunities, declared:

“I am very happy with the success of this project which allowed Mureaux high school students to understand the issues of secularism in a fun and educational way. The prefecture will continue to support initiatives of this type which contribute to promoting the values ​​of secularism. Republic.”
