In Aurillac, a forum to support employment in care and support professions

In Cantal, the care and support professions are still recruiting, to take care of an aging population. A forum attempted to bring together training organizations, employers and people looking for work on Tuesday April 30.

In the Lescudilliers hall, Tuesday April 30, there was a wide range of people working in the same sector: the care and support professions. There were big machines there, like Adapei and its Vallon campus, Ased, which recruits home help, or the Elsan clinic and the Henri-Mondor hospital…

What solutions can be found to reduce recruitment tensions in Cantal?

But there were also smaller structures. Blood donation, childminders, or even the Raulhac nursing home, managed by the local CCAS. Nothing surprising. In this sector, everyone shares the same problem: tensions over recruitment.

“People tell us that we are a little isolated, far from Aurillac,” regrets Christiane Large, caregiver. Everyone is looking for caregivers, it’s not a profession that is very recognized, valued…”

She learned her trade at the Raulhac nursing home, where she joined to do cleaning. A professional reorientation which is becoming a classic in this sought-after profession, where attracting young people leaving school is no longer enough.

“It’s not a profession that is very recognized”

So, with Cécile Degoul, her colleague, who has also been in the structure for six years, she bravely defends the qualities she finds in her establishment which has 34 residents: “It’s on a human scale, we are not in a factory. »

It’s a whole themed week around these professions which was built in particular by France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi). To discover the professions in a different and fun way, visitors could participate in an escape game, test aging simulators, and discover immersive videos on virtual reality headsets.
