The Agglo council which met on Monday September 30, 2024 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze debated the result of the consultation on the subject of the tourism development project. The community council which was held this Tuesday 1is October 2024 was dominated by two political highlights. The first was the election of the first vice-president of the Agglo. The session began with a duel between two elected officials from Spiripont. A clash in the ballot box which turned to the advantage of the mayor of Pont-Saint-Esprit Valère Segal. The new councilor of the second city of Rhone Gard won the vote of his community elected peers who elected him first vice-president of the Agglomeration in charge of mobility. Valère Segal won by 52 votes against his opponent Emmanuel Le Pargneux who obtained 12 votes. The president of the Agglo immediately invited Valère Segal to occupy the seat left vacant following the departure of his predecessor Claire Lapeyronie, forced to leave the community assembly following her defeat in the partial municipal elections of Pont-Saint-Esprit.
Domaine de Brès
Another key moment of this community council, the presentation of the result of the consultation on the subject of the Brès tourist project in the commune of Goudargues. As a reminder, the Earl company wishes to develop a hotel with high-end rooms and reception rooms. The project was the subject of consultation from July 15 to 31, 2024. The Agglomeration services recorded 1,035 observations, including 446 favorable “on the grounds of the influence and increased attractiveness towards local businesses. There is also the potential for job creation and the valorization of a remarkable space” indicated Brigitte Vandemeleubrooke when reading the deliberation.
The opponents came in numbers
Another figure, 589 observations unfavorable to the Domaine de Brès project raise questions inherent to this program, particularly in terms of management of environmental issues, mobility, networks and adequacy of care, etc. The places reserved for the public were well stocked while the project was debated.
Opponents of the tourism project came in numbers, silently expressing their disagreements by brandishing blank pages on which their demands were written. The opponents of Domaine de Brès immediately left the room.
The other files
There was also discussion of reading the 2023 activity report on the waste prevention and management service.
