This is an announcement eagerly awaited by residents and workers of The Trinity-sur-Mer (Morbihan): one bakery will open atsummer 2025.

No more bakeries in the village

Since the closure of the old bakery in La Trinité-sur-Mer, no bread has been produced in this town renowned for its port and its nautical competitions.

Mayor Yves Normand regularly receives comments from his constituents. “I hesitated to take my baker’s CAP. But I don’t feel very good on the subject,” the city councilor laughed. September 30, 2024.

Why can’t this very touristy town have a baker? “This is the consequence of land price. To have premises here, you need an economic model that holds up,” believes the mayor.

Where will the future bakery be located?

During the start of the maritime works and the inauguration of the port’s commercial and service premises, Mayor Yves Normand gave good news on the opening of the long-awaited bakery.

It will take place at Marée Douce, a bar-restaurant open since June 12, 2024. This business is in a building owned by the Compagnie des ports du Morbihan (CPM). François Minkiewicz and Emmanuel Bretagne were selected by the CPM jury.

“I included the need to have a bakery in the Marée Douce development project,” recalls the mayor, who adds:

On September 10, we had an appointment to submit the building permit for the entire activity: restaurant, rooms and a bakery.

“In the call for tenders, there was a bakery,” confirm François and Emmanuel before continuing. We are now dependent on the processing of the building permit. The goal: opening in the summer of 2025. We met a few bakers. »

The mayor and traders hope that the bakery will open for thesummer 2025.

How to have bread while waiting?

Bakeries are open in neighboring towns: Carnac, Ploemel or even Crach.

In the seaside town, it is possible to purchase a traditional baguette in three points of sale: the Librairie Presse, the port delicatessen and the Pavlova pastry shop.

The latter has a larger offer. Since July 6, 2024, the Pavlova pastry shop has launched a partnership with the Tentations gourmandes bakery, in Ploemel. This supplies pastries several times a day in molded baguettes, traditions and cereals, as well as in brioches and pastries.

Moreover, the Pavlova pastry shop has undertaken not to sell bread on Tuesdays and Fridays, market days in La Trinité-sur-Mer, in order to leave the field free for the bakers on site.
