oulenne cries Christophe Roy. Nearly ten days after the murder of its municipal agent, shot dead, the neighboring town of Langon, in Gironde, is still in shock from a tragedy that seems inexplicable. How can we admit that a neighborhood conflict, against a backdrop of barking dogs, could have ended like this? Philippe Lafargue, a neighbor of the victim’s mother, admitted the facts while in police custody. He was indicted for murder.

Aged 55, Christophe Roy was the deputy head of the city’s technical services. Hired at the age of 16, he was the oldest employee in the town. His funeral will be celebrated on Saturday May 4 at 10 a.m. in the church of Toulenne, on the banks of the Garonne. The tribute once imagined by the municipality for its agent will ultimately not take place. His partner and his family did not want it. On the other hand, Mayor Christian Daire, as well as a representative of his colleagues, will speak during the religious ceremony to salute the memory of their colleague and friend. “This is the wish of the family of the deceased,” indicates Christian Daire.

“Last road trip”

A delegation of bikers is also expected to participate in the ceremony. Passionate about motorcycles, Christophe Roy rode a Harley Davidson Electra. A procession of bikers will follow the hearse from Bazas to the Toulenne church. “We’re accompanying him on his last road trip,” confides a biker, who used to go on trips with Christophe Roy.

Considered “the memory of the technical services”, Christophe Roy knew everything about the town, he who had seen Toulenne go from 700 to more than 3,000 inhabitants and known four mayors. Everyone praises an exemplary and helpful colleague who had excellent relations with those administered. He was also Santa Claus for the children at school every year. For his colleagues, his sudden disappearance is very difficult to cope with.

Psychological support

“It’s going more or less well. For some it’s okay, for others not at all. But there is great solidarity between them,” greets the mayor. A psychological unit dispatched by the Cadillac psychiatric hospital was set up the same day of the tragedy. It is now the Gironde Territorial Civil Service Management Center which is taking over, with the provision this Friday, May 3, of an occupational doctor and a psychologist, present in Toulenne. “There will be longer-term individualized follow-up with the Langon psychological medical center, if agents express the need,” specifies the mayor.
