Wednesday, May 1, took place the traditional ride of Joan of Arc through the Orléans metropolis. Despite the rain, many spectators came to attend.
As tradition dictates, Joan of Arc, represented this year by Maïlys Boët, made her May 1st ride through the urban area of Orléans. After the ceremony on the Place du Martroi at 10 a.m., she rode through the city center of Orléans to Saint-Jean-de-Braye, where she crossed the Loire without incident aboard a toue, shortly after noon.
Emotion and rain for Joan of Arc’s ride to Orléans
The ride resumed from Charlemagne Island around 4 p.m., in pouring rain. After a visit to Saint-Denis en Val and Saint-Jean-le-Blanc, Jeanne was given a standing ovation at Les Tourelles by the hundreds of scouts who took part in the show. With her escort, she then crossed the Loire again, this time via the George V bridge, in order to return to the Place du Martroi where this great ride ended, around 6 p.m.
