THE Wazemmes districthas Lille (North) vibrates to the rhythm of International Soup Festivalthis Wednesday, May 1, 2024. And what an atmosphere! Soup makers And festival-goers were gathered by the thousands, from the first hours of the event. There almost summer weatherwith bright sunshine and 23°C on the thermometer, has undoubtedly convinced those who might have been reluctant to face the crowds… Spoiler: it’s worth it!
The coronation of the winner of the Ladle d’Or at 6 p.m. on the Grand Stage IN Wazemmes!
The stars of the afternoon are of course the amateur cooks who, behind the numerous stands, offer their recipes… the secret of which is not always revealed. “ Only good vegetables from the Wazemmes market, brings us a soup maker, and lots of love! » And “left caviar”, namely eggplant caviar… “Lots of love” AND humor!
Less mystery, on the side of “the winning soup” and its two cheerful chefs: the ingredients are displayed on a panel. “Wild garlic, potatoes, carrot tops, radish tops and a touch of wild garlic oil. » Without forgetting, again, the little extra that makes all the difference: “lots of love”!
Because we must not forget, despite the collective euphoria, the Soup Festival remains a competition ! Soup makers compete for the coveted Golden Ladle, the same one that grants the (official) distinction of best soup of the day. The results are given at 6 p.m., on the Main Stage.
What would a self-respecting festival be without music to make young and old dance… A brass band set the (serious!) atmosphere of the next to the square des Sarrazinswhere families and friends also gathered in large numbers.
Sitting cross-legged, around a soup for the purists, or a beer (for the other purists made in the North)… Simply enjoying the sweetness of life.
The International Soup Festival continues in Wazemmes this Wednesday May 1st until 10 p.m.around rue Wagram, Place d’Oujda and Parc des Sarrazins.
