The Dieppe SNSM intervened on Wednesday 1er May 2024, around 9 a.m., to assist a makeshift boat offshore.
A makeshift and overloaded boat
Its volunteers had initially gone to take seawater samples near the Penly nuclear power plant, when they were diverted at the request of Cross Gris-Nez, reports the site - . On board the inflatable boat were 45 people, who could have left from a local beach.
According to our colleagues, the migrants initially refused assistance from the SNSM when it arrived near them, so it was the maritime gendarmerie which was responsible for escorting them to disembark safely.
